This Privacy Policy Statement is to put on record that Affin Banking Berhad, its subsidiaries and associated companies (collectively called Affin Banking Group) are committed to the policy of protecting at all times the confidentiality, integrity and security of the information provided by you, our valued customer.

COLLECTION OF INFORMATION

Your personal information may be needed to process your request for online services offered by Affin Banking Group.

Types of information required from you may include, but is not limited to, your name, account number, identity card or passport number, address, date of birth, telephone numbers, personal demographic data and financial information depending on the type of service or product required.

USE OF INFORMATION

The information gathered is primarily used to process your application for products and services, fulfill transactions as requested by you, respond to your enquiries, evaluate your financial needs, prevent fraud and offer additional products or services that we believe may be of benefit to you.

Affin Banking Group may also share non-specific information about you whether with an agent or affiliate or partners, so as to advise you of opportunities and offers that may be of interest to you. Such third party with whom Affin Banking Group shares your information, are not permitted to retain any customer information unless you have specifically expressed interest in their products or services and/or have authorised the same.

DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION

Other instances where Affin Banking Group will disclose your information is when it is:

  • requested or authorized by you in writing ; or
  • required by law, Court Order or permitted under legislation or regulation or approved by Bank Negara Malaysia; or
  • required to protect the interest of the public, for example in the detection or prevention of crimes, etc.; or
  • to be provided to the Central Credit Unit established by Bank Negara Malaysia;
  • needed by an authorized third party to complete a transaction initiated by you or to provide services to you; or
  • needed for an Affin Banking Group appointed third party to carry out tasks out-sourced to them; or
  • pursuant to exceptions under BAFIA and related guidelines; or
  • to solicitors, CTOS, CCRIS and other collection bodies whether semi government or private and all other third parties as the Group deem fit.

SECURITY

Affin Banking Group invests in up-to-date system security technologies to ensure that all systems deployed meet or surpass industry standards. We have in place, privacy protection control systems designed to ensure that your information remain safe, secure and private. For more information please refer to our Security Policy Statement.

Nevertheless we hereby expressly advise you that Affin Banking Group does not have control over the computer, computer software, systems and other means used by you to access Affin Banking Group's Internet Banking website and therefore transmission over the Internet cannot be guaranteed, warranted or represented to be absolutely secure.

EMPLOYEE ACCESS

Employee access is limited to authorised employees who are required to access your information on a need-to-know basis only. Furthermore, all Affin Banking Group employees are bound by the Banking and Financial Institutions Act 1989 and a strict code of ethics to ensure that the privacy of your information is protected at all times. Any breach would subject the concerned employee to stern disciplinary action.

ACCURACY OF INFORMATION

Affin Banking Group endeavors to maintain all your data and information as accurate and updated as possible. However, if you believe that your records with us are inaccurate, incomplete or outdated, please assist us by providing the corresponding updates.

RIGHT TO OPT-OUT

Should you wish that your information is not to be shared with any other entities, or do not wish to be solicited for other products or services offered by Affin Banking Group, or other entities, please notify us by writing or e-mailing to the address stated below. However, you may not opt-out of any mandatory disclosure required by approved third parties such as a Court of Law or any Government Agencies permitted by Bank Negara Malaysia.
